Konecranes reported higher third-quarter sales on 23 October 2026, but new orders declined and its comparable profit margin narrowed. For readers following industrial demand, the split matters: revenue from deliveries and orders received during the period measure different stages of activity.

Why rising profit can come with a lower margin
A margin is profit expressed as a share of sales. In this case, comparable EBITA rose in absolute euro terms, but sales grew faster, so the margin fell. The change from 16.7% to 15.6% is a decline of 1.1 percentage points, or 110 basis points—not a 1.1% relative decline.
Comparable EBITA is the company’s alternative performance measure. It should not be relabelled as reported operating profit, net income or cash flow. The table keeps the reported operating-profit line separate.
Orders are not the same as delivered sales
An order records business received; sales recognize activity delivered under the relevant accounting rules. A weak order quarter does not mean the same amount has already disappeared from revenue, and strong deliveries do not by themselves establish that future demand is accelerating.
The company expects 2026 sales to remain approximately at the 2025 level or increase, and its comparable EBITA margin to remain approximately at the same level. Those statements are forecasts. They are also full-year expectations, not descriptions of the third quarter alone.
The interim figures are unaudited. Delivery timing, order conversion and the assumptions behind guidance remain important when comparing the next reporting period.
