Google plans to put Fitbit Air on sale in India on October 2 for ₹13,999, according to its September 30 announcement. The screenless wearable comes with a three-month Google Health Premium trial, making the service terms part of the purchase decision as well as the hardware price.
What Google says is included
The announcement names the Google Store and retail partners as sales channels. It says a Performance Loop Band is included with the device and lists four colour options. Some other bands are sold separately.
The included Premium trial provides access to Google Health Coach. Google states that the coach requires a Premium subscription, the Google Health app and an internet connection. It also says Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers receive Health Premium within their plans at no extra cost.
Check the phone and the ongoing cost
Google lists compatibility with most phones running Android 11 or later, or iOS 16.4 or later, together with a Google Account and the Health app. Its notes say the product is not intended for medical purposes. CapKet has not tested compatibility, health measurements or retailer stock.
CapKet analysis: Compare a wearable in two parts: the amount paid to obtain the device and the services you expect to keep using. An included trial does not by itself establish the amount payable later. Check the renewal price, cancellation process and which functions require payment before deciding that two offers are equivalent.
A useful shopping checklist is to confirm your phone model, identify the features you want and check whether an existing subscription already covers them. Keep the final retailer quotation and service terms together. This avoids treating an optional recurring service as either permanently free or necessarily required for every function.
