NEW YORK, 14 September 2026 — U.S. equities traded lower after Monday’s opening bell. At 10:00 ET, the S&P 500 was down 0.6%, the Nasdaq Composite was down 0.8%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was lower by 147 points, or 0.3%, according to a timestamped Associated Press market report.
U.S. opening prices
Opening prints for three heavily traded exchange-traded funds provided an additional timestamped view of the cash-market start. Google Finance displayed the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) open at $759.14, the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust (DIA) at $524.62, and the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) at $703.32.
These ETF prices track investable funds rather than the official index levels. They are included as opening-market references and should not be treated as substitutes for official index calculations.
Technology shares lead the decline
The Nasdaq’s larger percentage drop indicated heavier early pressure in technology-linked shares. The broader S&P 500 also declined, while the Dow’s comparatively smaller move showed a less severe opening reaction among its 30 constituents.
What to watch
Investors may monitor whether the early technology weakness broadens, movements in Treasury yields and energy prices, and whether major benchmarks recover or extend their opening declines. The regular NYSE and Nasdaq session continues until 16:00 ET.
Previous U.S. reference
