The benchmark began 46.18 points below Monday’s close. Its final reading was another 158.66 points below the opening level, so the open-to-close decline accounted for approximately 77% of the daily loss. The negative opening gap alone therefore understates Tuesday’s deterioration.

The 228.81-point daily range equaled approximately 0.87% of the prior closing level. The finish occupied the bottom 17% of that range, a weaker relative position than simply stating that the benchmark avoided its low. Tuesday’s high also stopped 14.29 points below Monday’s close.

The final index value was 18.43 points below 26,000, even though both the opening and high readings exceeded that round number. The close was also 10.98 points below Monday’s session low of 25,992.55. Nasdaq’s official description covers eligible domestic and international common-type stocks listed on its market. This is the Composite, not the narrower Nasdaq-100, and an aggregate decline should not be treated as evidence that every technology company fell.

The Federal Reserve’s September 15–16 meeting provides the next scheduled policy checkpoint, with economic projections associated with the meeting. No decision is presumed here.
