The S&P/ASX 200 rose 80.00 points, or 0.92%, to close at 8,789.30 on September 30, according to ASX’s Wednesday market summary. Ten of the exchange’s eleven displayed sectors finished higher, with listed property leading the sector table.

The verified session record

Measure Official observation
Cash close 8,789.30 points

Five-session index change +0.27%
Positive sectors 10 of 11
A-REIT sector +3.60% on the day

A broad day, with property out in front

ASX identified A-REITs as the best-performing sector, up 3.60% for the session and 1.61% over five days. REITs are listed property investment vehicles. Their sector performance is distinct from the performance of the entire benchmark and should not be presented as a direct measure of residential property prices.

The short-term comparison is less dramatic

The exchange put the ASX 200’s five-day gain at 0.27%, below Wednesday’s 0.92% increase. That indicates the latest rise more than accounts for the net gain across that window; it does not, by itself, identify which earlier sessions offset it.

Lendlease and Karoon Energy were the strongest percentage performers among index stocks in ASX’s summary, rising 11.30% and 8.97%. Percentage leadership is not the same as contribution leadership because constituent weights differ. CapKet has not verified a company-specific catalyst for either move and does not assign one.
