Cheniere Energy signed long-term agreements to supply QatarEnergy with a combined 4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas a year through 2054, according to its 22 October 2026 announcement. The important qualification is timing: deliveries are scheduled to begin in the early 2030s, and part of the volume still depends on an expansion investment decision.

Why the investment condition matters

A final investment decision is the commitment to proceed with a project after its commercial and financial requirements have been assessed. The conditional Sabine Pass volume should not be presented as fully unconditional supply already available from an operating expansion.

Similarly, a contract running through 2054 does not mean gas will flow for every year from the announcement date. The stated start is in the early 2030s. Nor can an annual tonnage commitment be converted into guaranteed revenue without the actual pricing terms and delivery outcomes.

How to read the pricing

Henry Hub is a US natural-gas benchmark. A price indexed to that benchmark can vary; adding a fixed fee does not turn the entire gas purchase price into one fixed amount. The release therefore supports the pricing formula, not an invented lifetime contract valuation.

The next useful milestones are the relevant investment decision and subsequent delivery progress. Neither the agreement nor this report establishes a near-term stock-market gain.
