Silver’s afternoon rebound did not erase its day-to-day decline in the IBJA benchmark for 6 October 2026. Silver of 999 purity was listed at ₹222,820 per kilogram in the PM column, up from the day’s ₹220,981 AM rate.
Two comparisons, two different messages
The morning-to-afternoon increase was ₹1,839 per kilogram. However, October 5’s PM benchmark was ₹224,157, leaving the October 6 PM rate ₹1,337 lower. CapKet’s same-session calculation puts that daily decrease at about 0.60%. Calling the metal simply “up today” would obscure which comparison is being made.
Translate kilograms without inventing retail quotes
Dividing the ₹222,820 kilogram benchmark by 1,000 gives ₹222.82 per gram. The proportional value for 100 grams is ₹22,282. These are arithmetic conversions of the same bulk benchmark, not independently verified prices for a one-gram coin or a 100-gram retail bar. Product fabrication, premiums and the applicable bill charges can change the amount a customer pays.
IBJA’s website states that its benchmark excludes GST and making charges. Compare a seller’s quote on the same purity and weight basis, and obtain the full charge breakup. No local retail offer, futures settlement or reason for the movement has been checked for this report.
Evidence is dated October 6
IBJA’s dated AM/PM table supplies the observations; the benchmark website states its exclusions. Checked 7 October 2026 at 00:55 IST. An October 7 website clock does not turn these into October 7 rates. See CapKet’s commodity reports for other sourced developments.
