SBI ATM fees have a new allowance for salary-package customers from October 1, 2026. The bank’s public notice reduces free monthly financial and non-financial transactions at other banks’ ATMs or automated deposit-withdrawal machines from ten to five, across all centres.
What changed in SBI ATM fees?
The allowance changed, not the stated per-transaction prices after it is used. SBI lists ₹23 plus GST for a cash withdrawal and ₹11 plus GST for a non-financial transaction, both unchanged.
The notice applies to all salary-package variants using an SBI debit card at other banks’ machines in India. It says the rules for non-salary accounts and for SBI debit cards at SBI machines remain unchanged. Cardless cash withdrawal transactions continue to be unlimited and free until further notice.
A separate rule for basic savings accounts
Another October 1 notice addresses Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts. It provides four free cash withdrawals per month and ₹15 plus GST for each additional cash withdrawal. The count includes cash taken through branch, ATM, micro-ATM, AEPS and CASH@POS channels.
That notice also says customer-initiated digital transfers through UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS and POS remain free. A transfer and a cash withdrawal should therefore not be counted as the same service merely because both reduce an account balance.
How to read the notices without mixing accounts
CapKet explanation: Start with the exact product name on the account, then identify whether the transaction used a debit card, a cardless service or a branch. The salary-package allowance and the basic-savings withdrawal count belong to separate notices. They are not two competing descriptions of a universal SBI rule.
Keep the bank statement and relevant notice when querying a charge. This article has not examined any reader’s account, confirmed an individual debit or checked whether a separate benefit applies to a particular customer. It does not provide a universal tax-inclusive total because GST is additional in the bank’s notices.
Our bank reporting coverage should not be confused with these customer-service terms.
Primary evidence: SBI’s salary-package ATM notice and basic-savings cash-withdrawal notice, reviewed October 5 at 17:28 IST. These are effective-date explanations, not a claim that the notices were issued today.
Correction, October 5, 2026: The source-review time has been corrected. The financial figures, reporting periods and original publication date are unchanged.
