Samsung Electronics has published the detailed results behind its strong third-quarter profit, alongside a quarterly cash dividend of KRW 4,601 for each common and preferred share. Its 29 October 2026 announcement reports consolidated revenue of KRW 195.3 trillion and operating profit of KRW 107.4 trillion for the quarter ended 30 September.
The group total masks a sharp difference between businesses. Device Solutions, which includes semiconductors, generated KRW 106.5 trillion of operating profit, while Device eXperience recorded an operating loss of KRW 0.8 trillion. A strong group result therefore does not mean that all divisions were profitable.
The accompanying official earnings presentation says the consolidated figures follow Korean International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS) and were supplied before external review was complete. They may change following that review; this is not an audited-results claim.
The announced quarterly figures
| Measure | Disclosed result | Basis or qualification | Official source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consolidated revenue | KRW 195.3 trillion | Up 14% quarter on quarter | Samsung results |
| Consolidated operating profit | KRW 107.4 trillion | Group operating result, not net income | Samsung results |
| Device Solutions | Revenue KRW 147.1 trillion; operating profit KRW 106.5 trillion | Division figures, not an additional group total | Samsung results |
| Device eXperience | Operating loss KRW 0.8 trillion | Revenue rose 8% quarter on quarter | Samsung results |
| Quarterly capital expenditure | KRW 29 trillion | Spending during Q3, distinct from profit | Samsung results |
Why the divisional split matters
Samsung attributed memory performance to its AI-focused product mix and stronger market prices. These are company explanations, not an independently measured contribution to each unit of profit. Operating profit is earnings after operating costs, distinct from revenue, net income and distributable cash. The presentation says division sales include intersegment transactions, so they should not be summed as group revenue.
The release also reports a combined KRW 0.6 trillion operating loss for the Mobile eXperience and Networks businesses. That is a narrower grouping than the full Device eXperience division. The two losses should not be added together or treated as separate extra losses on top of the group result.
Dividend amount versus future payout plans
| Item | Confirmed disclosure or limit | Official source |
|---|---|---|
| Cash dividend | KRW 4,601 per common share and KRW 4,601 per preferred share; total KRW 30 trillion. | Dividend details |
| Eligibility and payment timetable | Record, ex-dividend and payment dates are not specified in this checked results release; this report does not establish eligibility for a new buyer. | Scope of checked release |
| Remaining shareholder returns | Company estimate of KRW 55–75 trillion; includes contemplated repurchases, cancellations and cash dividends. Final amounts and execution plans are not yet finalized. | Shareholder-return plans |
| Next policy decision | Board meeting scheduled for late January 2027; a future decision, not a completed payout. | Policy timetable |
The dividend amount and the wider capital-return estimate answer different questions. A planned repurchase is not cash already returned, and the release’s planned-or-completed category should not be presented as entirely completed spending. No dividend yield, tax result or assured investment gain is inferred here.
What to watch next
Samsung expects full-year capital expenditure of about KRW 84.4 trillion and continued demand for AI-related memory products. These are management forecasts, not achieved full-year figures. Subsequent disclosures will show whether the semiconductor momentum and device-business profitability develop as expected, and how the remaining shareholder-return programme is implemented.
CapKet’s earlier Samsung guidance report covers the preliminary announcement. This report addresses the newly released divisional results and shareholder-return details; it does not replace that dated record.
