Nothing OS 5.0’s general release began reaching Phone (3) on October 12, 2026, according to Nothing’s official release post. This is not a new October 15 launch or universal availability: distribution is staggered, and the roadmap says timing can vary by region and carrier.

Which phones are scheduled next?

Model Indicative general release
Phone (3) From October 12
Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (4a), Phone (3a) Pro, Phone (3a) Early November
Phone (2a), Phone (2a) Plus Mid November
Phone (3a) Lite Late December
Phone (4b), CMF Phone 2 Pro Mid January

These are plans, not guaranteed delivery dates. The table does not specify a year for the later windows, so none is added here. Phone (1), Phone (2) and CMF Phone 1 will not receive OS 5.0 because their major-software support has ended. That statement alone does not establish an end date for every security patch.

Some AI features have separate timelines

Essential Space updates are distributed separately through Google Play. Nothing plans MCP support, allowing compatible AI tools to access selected Essential Space information, around October; its redesigned capture experience is scheduled to start in November. Neither plan confirms availability on every phone now.

Real-time translation in Essential Voice is planned for later this year. Essential Apps Builder remains an early beta, with gradual access and a waitlist. An advertised feature is not a promise of immediate access for every user.

General release is not Open Beta

The ordinary update route is Settings > System > System update. Open Beta is a separate pre-release channel that can affect stability, battery life or performance. Its enrolment instructions should not be mistaken for the normal stable-update process. Back up important data; Nothing warns that beta rollback erases data.

CapKet has not tested a handset, measured performance or verified update availability for an individual region or carrier. Related: ColorOS rollout plans and AI-feature limits.
