A YouGov survey commissioned by Meta found that 76% of participating small-business owners across nine Asia-Pacific markets reported a positive impact from AI on productivity. Meta released the findings on October 14, 2026. The results describe respondents’ experiences and opinions; they do not establish a causal improvement or a guaranteed financial return.
The headline percentages and their basis
| Measure | Official figure or condition |
|---|---|
| Sample / markets | 3,983 small-business owners / nine APAC markets |
| Fieldwork | 6 August–2 September 2026; online |
| Currently using AI | 84% of surveyed owners |
| Positive productivity impact | 76% report a benefit |
| Positive revenue or sales impact | 71% over the past 12 months |
| Need more guidance | 86% |
| Training cost barrier | 51% cite cost |
The 71% figure concerns a reported positive impact on revenue or sales over the past 12 months. It is not a 71% increase in sales, nor a measure of profit growth. The 84% adoption figure describes owners in this survey, not every business in Asia-Pacific. Meta does not say these pooled figures apply specifically to India or that all respondents use Meta AI products.
How the sample limits the conclusion
YouGov conducted the online research between August 6 and September 2, 2026. It covered Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Japan and Hong Kong. Within each market, quotas by business size sought a broad spread across employers with 1–9, 10–19 and 20–49 employees.
The methodology expressly says the findings are not nationally representative of the small-business population. Adoption and reported impact differ across markets. The note also says question interpretation, translation and local response norms may contribute to differences. CapKet has not independently replicated the survey or inspected respondent-level data.
A training gap, not just an adoption number
While 86% say small businesses need more guidance to obtain AI’s full benefits, 51% cite cost as a training barrier. Owners also seek clearer information about cost and return on investment, privacy and security. A business can use these questions to assess a small trial: track time saved, correction work and total cost rather than treating the survey as a sales forecast.
Meta links the findings to its Small Business Growth Academy, announced in June across 12 Asia-Pacific countries. That programme announcement is background, not the source of this nine-market survey’s percentages, and the two populations should not be combined. CapKet has not verified current enrolment eligibility or universal access to every promoted business tool.
