Flipkart Big Billion Days opened on October 9, 2026 with the company reporting 6.3 million concurrent users in a minute during the opening hour. That is an early traffic signal, not a measure of completed purchases, revenue or the final outcome of the sale.
Concurrent users and sessions mean different things
In its October 9 announcement, Flipkart also reported more than 287 million sessions during October 8 early access. The launch notice had set October 9 for the sale opening, following October 8 early access for specified membership and card groups.
A concurrent-user reading concerns activity at the same time. A session total counts visits over a period and should not be relabelled as the same number of distinct people. Neither metric on its own establishes how many visitors ordered, the value of purchases or profitability. CapKet has not independently audited the company’s figures.
What the opening-hour report can—and cannot—show
The company said nearly half of opening-hour visits came from Tier 3 towns and beyond. This gives geographic context to its own early traffic account, but it is not a full-sale market-share calculation. An opening-hour snapshot and the entire event’s results cover different periods.
For shoppers, traffic headlines are also separate from the value of an individual offer. Compare the final payable amount, eligibility conditions, return terms and warranty information for the particular product. Do not assume that a headline discount or busy platform makes every listing suitable or cheaper than an alternative.
Official evidence and next checks
CapKet checked Flipkart’s October 9 opening report at 7:06 PM IST and its October 6 launch announcement during the same research session on October 9, 2026. Both are company sources, not independent demand estimates.
Watch for a subsequent dated account that identifies its measurement period and separates traffic from sales. CapKet’s earlier Apple Pay India eligibility report explains another practical payment check; it does not establish eligibility for a Flipkart promotion.
