What explains the EPS adjustment?
Crown’s reconciliation begins with $2.08 of reported diluted EPS. It adds $0.31 for intangible amortization and $0.07 for restructuring and other items, then deducts a $0.07 income-tax effect, producing adjusted diluted EPS of $2.39.
Intangible amortization spreads the cost of specified acquired non-physical assets over their accounting lives. Removing that charge changes the alternative earnings measure but does not erase it from the company’s reported financial statements. Crown describes adjusted EPS as supplemental information, not a substitute for GAAP earnings.
The full-year number is still guidance
Crown’s 2026 outlook calls for adjusted diluted EPS of $8.35 to $8.45 and adjusted free cash flow of at least $950 million. These are management expectations for the full year, not cash or earnings already reported for the third quarter.
The quarter’s 6% volume increase measures the number of beverage cans, not an identical percentage change in revenue or profit. Prices, product mix, costs and the share count can make those measures move differently. No current share-price reaction or analyst-consensus estimate was verified here.

Crown’s October 19 Form 8-K, Item 2.02, identifies these results as covering the quarter ended September 30 and furnishes the earnings release as an exhibit. The cover report and release are records from the same issuer, not independent corroboration.
