GIFT Nifty’s 27 October 2026 futures contract was quoted at 22,786.50 points in NSE IX’s overnight Session 2 display at 01:03 IST on 7 October. The exchange reported a gain of 12.50 points, or 0.05%, and volume of 57,238 contracts. The session was labelled open.
Why the contract row is the reference
The homepage also carried a near-month chart and an Indian cash-index ticker with different values and timestamps. This report uses the specifically identified October 27 contract row, not a blend of those displays. Its price is an index level in points; it is not a rupee amount, a confirmed settlement or a cash Nifty 50 close.
No guaranteed opening signal
Overnight futures provide another observation of Nifty-linked exposure, but the cash market trades in a different session. Time to expiry, financing and dividends can contribute to differences between futures and the underlying index. This snapshot alone cannot establish the next Indian opening, and no cause for the modest gain has been verified. The table’s underlying-value field showed zero; that placeholder is not evidence that the cash index was worth zero.
Keep comparisons like-for-like
Follow the same October expiry and verify the source timestamp before comparing later values. A December option row is not another futures quote, and a website’s chart may update at a different instant from its table. No continuous-contract chart, live bid/ask spread or trader forecast was used here.
