What the contract represents

ICE describes the underlying FTSE 100 as a market-capitalisation-weighted index of UK-listed blue-chip companies. The futures contract is quoted in index points and has a £10-per-point contract multiplier. The 10,702.50 headline level is therefore not a cash price in pounds for one share.

The multiplier also illustrates why contract value and index level should not be confused. Futures exposure involves leverage and margin; this report does not estimate an investor’s required margin or suitability to trade.

What remains unverified

The captured public data row supplied last price, percentage change, volume and time. It did not establish a cash-index opening gap or the final London close, and those figures have not been filled in from a third-party aggregator. No claim is made about a specific company or economic release driving the increase.

For a separate European derivatives observation, see the DAX futures snapshot. Different contracts and timestamps limit direct comparisons.
