India’s gold 999 PM benchmark was ₹1,47,667 per 10 grams on September 29, 2026, according to the IBJA dated rate sheet. That was ₹313, or 0.21%, below September 28’s PM figure of ₹1,47,980. The percentage is calculated by CapKet from those two observations.

The day was not uniformly lower: the PM reading exceeded September 29’s AM benchmark of ₹1,47,400 by ₹267. A recovery between those observations should not be described as a gain against the previous day.

Which gold price are you comparing?

The same sheet lists 916 gold at ₹1,35,263 per 10 grams for September 29 PM. BIS guidance associates 916 fineness with 22-karat jewellery. Comparing that with a 999 quotation without identifying the purity mixes different specifications.

IBJA’s displayed rates exclude 3% GST and making charges. They are not city-specific shop offers or a promise that a finished ornament can be bought at the benchmark.

What to check on a jewellery purchase

Start with the article rather than the headline rate. Ask for its purity, net gold weight and an itemised invoice showing how the final amount was calculated. Keep the metal component separate from any other materials and additional charges when comparing offers. CapKet has not surveyed retail sellers for this report, so it does not present a lowest-price shop or a city-rate league table.

BIS says the Verify HUID feature in BIS Care can be used to check hallmarked gold jewellery before purchase. Its consumer guidance also says recognised assaying and hallmarking centres can test jewellery or samples for a charge. These checks concern purity; they do not establish whether an asking price is attractive.

What this observation does not establish

This is a dated Indian bullion-benchmark report, not an MCX futures settlement or a continuously refreshed trading quote. No cause for the price move, retailer premium or next-day forecast was independently verified. A later observation belongs in a separately dated update, not in a replacement of these historical figures.

Source observation: September 29, 2026, approximately 20:26 IST (14:56 UTC). The observation time is when CapKet checked the evidence, not IBJA’s PM publication time. See CapKet’s commodities coverage for related reports.
