The latest IBJA gold rate for 999 purity was ₹149,430 per 10 grams in the October 9, 2026 PM benchmark. That was ₹1,784 above October 8’s PM figure, even though it fell ₹184 from Friday’s own morning reading. IBJA publishes no Saturday benchmark, so this is not a new October 10 price.

Match the date, session and purity

IBJA’s dated sheet lists gold 999 at ₹149,614 per 10g on October 9 AM and ₹149,430 on PM. October 8 PM was ₹147,646. The daily PM-to-PM increase is approximately 1.21%, calculated from those two values; the same-day AM-to-PM move was lower.

For October 9 PM, gold 995 was ₹148,832 per 10g and gold 916 was ₹136,878 per 10g. These are separate purity categories. Comparing a seller’s 916-purity quote directly with the 999 benchmark can make the apparent difference misleading.

A benchmark is not the final jewellery bill

IBJA states that its rates exclude 3% GST and making charges. Its national association benchmark is not a city-specific retail offer or an exchange futures settlement. First match the date, metal weight and purity, then request an itemised seller quotation before comparing the final payable amount.

The weekend gap is also important: an unchanged benchmark page on Saturday does not establish an unchanged retail quote. Nor should a blank Saturday entry be treated as zero or filled with an invented fresh observation. Check the next dated publication rather than relabelling Friday’s figures as live prices.

Evidence and practical next steps

CapKet checked IBJA’s rate page and its dated AM/PM sheet at 9:08 PM IST on October 10, 2026. Both show the same association’s data, not independent market confirmations. No cause for the move or forecast is established here.

For a different metal, CapKet’s separate October 9 silver report retains its own unit and session comparisons. Gold’s ten-gram benchmark and silver’s kilogram benchmark should not be compared as if they used the same weight.
